To begin the process, Dr. Martinez will clean and numb your mouth, then trim the tooth to prepare it for your same-day crown. Once he’s done, he will scan it using a hand-held 3D scanner, and he will upload this information to a computer.
Dr. Martinez will use a computer to design your crown. When he’s done, he will send this information to our in-house machine, and load a tooth-colored block of porcelain into the unit. Then, the same-day machine will automatically cut your crown out of this porcelain block in just a few minutes. Unlike lab-made dental crowns which take weeks.
Once your crown is done, Dr. Martinez will retrieve it from the machine, check its fit and make minor adjustments, and then bond it onto your tooth permanently. The entire process takes a single 1-2 hour appointment at our office in Corona.
One of the best things about crowns is that they look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. You don’t need to do anything special to maintain your new crown. Just continue to brush and floss regularly, and come to our Corona office twice a year for checkups with Dr. Martinez. That’s it!
